Our Lady of Tikhvin The icon of Our Lady of Tikhvin was kept according to tradition, once – through five centuries – in Constantinople. 70 years before the fall of Constantinople and its capture by the Turks, the icon disappeared from the city. In that time she appeared on Lake Ladoga. Fishermen casting their nets saw an unusual light and is an icon, which hovered in the air above the water. The holy icon, which was carried by angels appeared, even in some places before they stopped on the river near the town of Tikhvin Tichvinka.
